Obsolete Product Support for Discontinued Automation & Electrical Items
Many plants run reliable machines whose controllers, drives or HMIs are no longer manufactured. When one of those parts fails, the original supplier may have nothing to offer — and the machine stops.

Overview
Sparsh Automation helps in three ways: sourcing the discontinued item, refurbishing the faulty unit where practical, or engineering a replacement with a current product so the problem does not return.
In our brochure“Sourcing, refurbishing & replacing discontinued automation & electrical items.”
If several obsolete components need replacing together, a planned upgrade is usually better value. Go to Retrofit & upgrades
Capabilities
What our solution covers
Sourcing
Locating discontinued automation and electrical items for urgent replacement.
Refurbishment
Repair and refurbishment of faulty units where technically and economically sensible.
Replacement engineering
Selecting a current-generation equivalent and adapting wiring, mounting and software.
Program backup and conversion
Backing up existing programs where accessible and converting them for a new platform as part of a replacement.
Migration planning
A phased plan to replace obsolete equipment before it fails, aligned with shutdown windows.
Typical deliverables
- Assessment of the failed or at-risk item
- Options: source, refurbish or replace — with trade-offs explained
- Supply, repair or replacement as agreed
- Updated documentation for any replacement
Final scope and deliverables are agreed in the quotation for each requirement.
Typical applications
- Legacy PLC systems on long-life production machines
- Older drives and HMIs without direct successors
- Spares planning for critical equipment
Technical considerations
General engineering guidance to help you plan and specify.
- Repair vs replace
- Sourcing or repairing restores production fastest, but if spares are scarce a planned migration usually lowers long-term risk.
- Back up now
- If the program lives only in an ageing controller, back it up before it fails. Recovering logic after a failure is far harder.
- Condition of sourced parts
- Discontinued items may be new-old-stock, used or refurbished. We state the condition clearly when quoting.
Process
How the engagement works
- 01
Identify
Part number, nameplate photos and the role of the item in your system.
- 02
Assess options
Availability, repairability and suitable replacements.
- 03
Recommend
Clear options with risks, costs and timelines explained.
- 04
Execute
Supply, repair or replacement with testing and documentation.
FAQ
Obsolete Product Support: common questions
Can you find a PLC module that is no longer manufactured?
We try to source discontinued items for urgent needs. Availability depends on the model, so share the exact part number and photos and we will confirm what is possible.
Is it better to repair or replace an obsolete unit?
It depends on how critical the machine is, how scarce spares are and your plans for the equipment. We explain the trade-offs and help you choose.
Can my existing PLC program be moved to a new controller?
Often, yes — programs can be converted or rewritten for a current platform. It requires access to the existing program and testing to confirm behaviour is unchanged.
